Bike Fitting Level 2

Designed for anyone working with cyclists, from coaches and bike fitters to health and performance professionals, this course teaches the fundamentals of bike fitting through a practical lens. You’ll gain the skills to assess, adjust, and apply bike fit principles to address real-world comfort, injury, and performance concerns. Hands-on, evidence-based, and case-driven.

Bike Fitting Level 2

This course will teach you the foundations of professional bike fitting. Through a mix of online learning and hands-on in-person training, you will learn how to assess riders, make effective position adjustments, and solve common cycling issues. Perfect for physical therapists, coaches, and cycling enthusiasts, this course is designed to build your confidence and skills to start fitting riders straight away. This course will certify you as a Level 2 IBFI Bike Fitter.

This course will award CEU points and certify you as a Level 2 IBFI Bike Fitter.

Course objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand key principles of cycling biomechanics and how they influence performance, comfort, and injury prevention.

  • Conduct a thorough pre-fit screening, including physical assessments relevant to bike fitting.

  • Perform accurate bike setup and make informed component adjustments to optimize rider position and support.

  • Assess and adjust cleat positioning, saddle height/angle, and handlebar setup based on individual rider needs.

  • Identify and address common rider complaints, such as discomfort, numbness, and performance issues, using biomechanical reasoning.

  • Develop strong observational skills to assess rider posture, movement, and pedaling technique during a bike fit.

  • Adapt fitting approaches for different cycling disciplines, including road, mountain, gravel, and triathlon.

  • Gain introductory knowledge of fit technologies, including video analysis and saddle pressure mapping, and how to interpret their outputs.

  • Complete a full bike fit, applying all learned principles.

Introduction to Bike Fitting

Fundamentals of fit and essential bike mechanic skills

This introductory course is ideal for anyone new to bike fitting or those wanting to gain confidence in the essential mechanical skills before moving on to more advanced fitting. You’ll learn the foundations of bike setup and core fitting principles needed to work confidently with recreational riders. An experienced bike mechanic and fitter will be on hand throughout the workshop to teach and support you in building practical mechanical skills. This course is designed for those new to bike fitting or for physical therapists and health professionals who have less experience with the mechanical side of bikes, but want to integrate bike fitting into their practice.

The perfect starting point for coaches, health professionals, or riders who want to confidently help cyclists with the basics of fit.

This session is an optional foundation course and must be taken in conjunction with the Level 2 weekend.

The cost for the Introduction to Bike Fitting course (Friday) and the Level 2 course (Saturday and Sunday) is $2300.
